CENTERING WORDS

Let love guide your path, for love is the holiest path of all.

PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL TO WORSHIP

O give thanks to the Lord and call on his name

Make known his deeds among the people.

Sing to the Lord, sing praises to God!

Tell everyone of God’s wonderful works!

Seek the Lord and his strength while God may be found. Let us worship God!

OPENING HYMN Blessed Assurance, Jesus Is Mine #839

Because the singing of hymns is discouraged during this period of pandemic, you are invited to meditate on verses 1 and 3 below.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

O what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Chorus

This is my story; this is my song,

praising my Savior, all the day long;

this is my story; this is my song,

praising my Savior, all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest;

I in my Savior am happy and blest,

watching and waiting, looking above,

filled with his goodness, lost in his love.

Chorus

CALL TO PRAYERS

f we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In humility and faith let us confess our sin to God.

PRAYERS OF CONFESSION AND INTERCESSION

God by your Word you formed and ordered the world, and called it good. But we have burned it with the fires of greed, and cut it down in contempt.

Restore us, O God. Let your face shine upon us, that we might be saved.

With your hands, you tilled the ground, and cleared for us a fertile place to grow. But we have grown wild, and yielded poor fruit. Violence, like briers, is choking our land.

Restore us, O God of hosts. Let your face shine upon us, that we might be saved.

In your love, you pruned us for justice and righteousness, and tended us with care. But we have responded with indifference and hate, and caused your creation to cry out.

Restore us, O Lord God of hosts. Let your face shine upon us that we might be saved.

Hear us now as we silently lift the cares and concerns of our hearts.

Silence

God, in your mercy,

hear our prayers and heal us that we might be  whole again. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GOD WITH US

The promise of the gospel is sure and true. When we come to Christ with willing hearts, we are made new, opened to be the people we were created to be. Friends, hear and believe the Good News – In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

The peace of Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

OUR GIFTS OF SACRIFICE and THANKSGIVING

Invitation

Through Christ, let us continually offer to God the sacrifice of praise; that is, hearts, minds, souls, and bodies that call upon his holy name. Let us bring to the Lord our tithes and our gifts.

Thank you for sending your offerings. They make a great difference to our church’s work in the world.

Musical Meditation

Prayer of Dedication

Holy One, we bring these gifts to bless your world with hope. May they be a blessing to others. And bless us with patience and faith, that we may bring hope to a hurting world. Amen.

CLOSING HYMN We Are One in the Spirit #300

You are invited to meditate on verses 1, 2, and 3 below.

We are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord;

we are one in the Spirit; we are one in the Lord,

and we pray that all unity may one day be restored:

Chorus

And they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love;

yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love.

We will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand;

we will walk with each other; we will walk hand in hand,

and together we’ll spread the news that God is in our land:

Chorus

We will work with each other; we will work side by side;

we will work with each other; we will work side by side,

and we’ll guard human dignity and save human pride:
