CENTERING WORDS

If someone loves God, they are known by God.

Love God, and trust that you are known by God.

PRELUDE

WELCOME and CALL TO WORSHIP

Praise God, who loves us all.

Praise God, who is full of mercy and compassion.

Praise God, who loves us well.

Praise God, who creates honesty and justice.

Praise God, who invites us to love.

Praise God, who loves through us and our actions.

OPENING HYMN

God of Grace and God of Glory No. 307

(Because the singing of hymns is discouraged during this period of pandemic, you are invited to hum or meditate on the verses below.)

God of grace and God of glory,

on thy people pour thy power;

crown thine ancient church's story;

bring its bud to glorious flower.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

for the facing of this hour,

for the facing of this hour.

Lo! the hosts of evil round us

scorn thy Christ, assail his ways!

From the fears that long have bound us

free our hearts to faith and praise.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

for the living of these days,

for the living of these days.

CALL TO PRAYERS

When we offer our prayers of confession, God takes them from us and fills our hearts with such an abundance of mercy, we cannot hold it all. Let us come to the feet of Jesus, confessing our sin and our need. And, in the light of Christ, let us be reconciled to God.

PRAYERS OF APPROACH & CONFESSION

Loving God, love through us, as we worship your holy name. Love through us, as we listen for your holy word.

Love through us, as we live your teachings

and offer your love to our world.

Silence

When we cry out with words that hurt,

silence our cries and speak gently through our words.

When we act in ways that hurt, even when help is intended,

transform our hurtful actions with your grace.

When we forget that we are loved and called to love,

love us back into your likeness,

that your love might flow freely through us

and bring your love to the world.

In your holy presence of love, we pray. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF GOD WITH US

Full of mercy and compassion, God knows us to the core of our being, and loves us through all our days.

SHARING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you!

And also with you.

Prayer of Dedication

Holy, awesome God, we bring gifts of paper and coin,

symbols of our gratitude and our love. Bless these symbols,

that they may become acts of love and grace.

Bless us and our gifts, that we may transform the world

with love and grace. In gratitude and hope, we pray. Amen.

CLOSING HYMN

God of Grace, and God of Glory No. 307

(You are invited to hum or meditate on the verses below.)

Cure thy children's warring madness;

bend our pride to thy control;

shame our wanton, selfish gladness,

rich in things and poor in soul.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

lest we miss thy kingdom's goal,

lest we miss thy kingdom's goal.

Save us from weak resignation

to the evils we deplore.

Let the gift of thy salvation

be our glory evermore.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,

serving thee whom we adore,

serving thee whom we adore.
