We Gather

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have everlasting life.

Give the Lord glory and power.

Adore the Lord, resplendent and holy.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.

The whole earth is full of God’s glory.

Heed the voice of the Lord, full of power.

Regard the voice of the Lord, full of splendor.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.

The whole earth is full of God’s glory.

The God of glory thunders.

The Lord’s voice flashes flames of fire.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts.

The whole earth is full of God’s glory.

In God’s temple, the people cry, “Glory!”

For the Lord will give strength to the people.

The Lord will bless the people with peace.

OPENING HYMN  God of Great and God of Small    No.19

(Because the singing of hymns is discouraged during this period of pandemic, you are invited to hum or meditate on the verses below.)

God of great and God of small,

God of one and God of all,

God of weak and God of strong,

God to whom all things belong,

alleluia, alleluia, praise be to your name.

God of silence, God of sound,

God by whom the lost are found,

God of day and darkest night,

God whose love turns wrong to right,

alleluia, alleluia, praise be to your name.

God of heaven and God of earth,

God of death and God of birth,

God of now and days before,

God who reigns forevermore,

alleluia, alleluia, praise be to your name.

We come to be reconciled to the One who gives life eternally. Let us pray.

Creating, all powerful, and triune God, we acknowledge your authority as our maker to command our obedience.

Loving Jesus, one with humanity, and Holy spirit, living presence of God, we thank you for the countless blessings you pour into our lives.

Our hearts rejoice, holy one: for your infinite love, which echoes through creation;

for Christ’s love, which came to us in human form;

for the Spirit’s love, which calls our hearts into fellowship with you. We bow before you, the Three-in-One, and ask that you continue to bless us, that we may draw ever closer to you, as your children and your heirs.

Almighty God, in our pride, we have forgotten your holiness and your due as creator of all that is; we have failed to care for your creation.

By your grace and mercy, heavenly Father, forgive us when we act as if we were your equals. By your love and compassion, holy Mother, correct us when we squander opportunities to care for your creation.

Christ, our Savior, through indifference and hatred, we have failed to live out your gospel of love for all of our sisters and brothers.

By your grace and mercy, beloved Jesus, forgive us when we create divisions, rather than live in unity and love as God’s children.

Holy spirit, we have failed to listen for your guidance, and have not heeded your call to serve God’s kingdom.

By your grace and mercy, forgive us when we turn a deaf ear to your call and when we act as disobedient children. Amen.

God forgives us through an unchanging, enduring love. Be assured that having received the Spirit, we can state with confidence:

“We are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.”

Jesus invites us to be born from above to receive new and abundant life. The gift of God’s love made known to us in Christ through the Spirit is stirred up by gratitude. So with grateful hearts let us share the peace of Christ with each other.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

And also with you.

We Reflect

Come, Holy Spirit, come. Open our hearts and minds and lives to your call through this holy word. Amen.

Wondrous Love

We Respond

Opening Sentences

There are different gifts,

But it is the same Spirit who gives them.

There are different ways of serving God.

But it is the same God who achieves God’s purpose through them all.

Each one is given a gift by the Spirit, to use it for the common good.

Together we are the Body of Christ, and individually members of him.

The Constitutional Questions

Questions to the Congregation

Do we, the members of the church, accept these persons as Ruling Elders and Deacons, chosen by God through the voice of this congregation to lead us in the way of Jesus Christ?

We do.

Do we agree to encourage them, to respect their decisions and to follow as they guide us, serving Jesus Christ, who alone is Head of the Church?

We do.

Laying On of Hands

Prayer of Ordination and Installation

Declaration of Ordination and Installation

Lord in your mercy/in thanksgiving,

Hear our prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,

thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;

and lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power,

and the glory, forever. Amen.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’” In light of Isaiah’s offering of himself to the Lord, now is the time for us to offer ourselves and our gifts to God.

Thank you for sending your offerings.

They make a great difference to our church’s work in the world.

Musical Meditation

Prayer of Dedication

O Lord God, these offerings we make are tokens; they represent our love for you. We thank you for your Spirit’s gifts to us, so mysterious, bountiful, and astounding. They are blessings upon blessings. These blessings reveal your presence among us as the merciful, holy, and loving one. Amen.

We Are Sent

CLOSING HYMN    We Join in Proclaiming   Tune: No. 37

By Carolyn Winfrey Gillettte Used with Permission

(You are invited to hum or meditate on the verses below.)

We join in proclaiming the faith we believe in —

that God is Creator and we are God's own.

We trust in Christ Jesus and gladly receive him,

for we have been blessed by the love he has shown.

Christ died and is risen and, one with the Father,

He reigns now in heaven, still loving the earth.

The Spirit of God that moved over the waters

now moves here among us, empowering God's church.

O God, we have pondered through years of our history

how you can be Father and Spirit and Son.

We've prayed and we've studied and called it a mystery

that you are three persons and yet you are one.

Creating and saving, your church here renewing,

you still are one God working many good ways.

May we humbly thank you for all you are doing!

O God in three persons, we offer you praise.

Now go forth with the song of the seraphs in your hearts.

We will praise God’s glory and strength.

Depart to rejoin the wayward world we live in.

We will be led by the voice of the Lord.

Go in peace as children of the almighty Creator.

Thanks be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
